I have a 10 y-o, 8 y-o & 8 month old. So for the older 2 I will hug them before going to bed and and say, “I love you but God loves you more”, before they go to bed. For the baby, I will recite John 3:16 while I change her diapers

This is so helpful I’ve been wanting to do something like this with my 2 year old and 8mth but thought they’re to little and didn’t know how to since they loose interest quick. Everything is so easy i can definitely turn some of these into habits with God’s help. Im excited for my little family. Thank you

YES!!!!! I love this realization. They are never too little – there’s always some way we can be pointing them to God. They don’t need big Bible lessons – they just need these little tiny, regular touchpoints. ?

I already listened to both days since I just started today. This will help me when I become a mom. I am a godmother and an aunt this will help me to teach them. I am a therapist and I can help families with their children to be grateful for today and pray with them at night. My mom taught me in her own way about God. Thank you.

Wonderful! I’m so glad you find value in the process – it’s definitely applicable at any stage of life. I just focus my examples on Christian parenting but if you look up the Tiny Habits book by BJ Fogg, you’ll find a zillion more ideas!

Waking up before the kids to do a bit of time with God and my coffee. Alarm is set but not waking up. I need to go to bed earlier, set the timer on my coffee to brew. I already have been doing the chronological bible ready plan with corresponding bible recap app bit not everyday. I’d like to do it 5 days a week.

I like the idea of setting the timer on your coffee – that seems like a good little habit to set the whole process in motion!

staying focus on one think at a time, I tend to try and do too much, not multi task, but just to much . so my habit is to do one task complete it before I go on to another, task.

Sounds like it’s the perfect habit for you. Sometimes the best habit is just to focus!

I love these ideas.. currently we say our thanks at night and I remind my 4year old son that he is loved. I am excited to pick a verse and pray over him as well. What are your favorite verses for toddlers?

I used to say the Lord’s Prayer when driving my daughter to school each day. It fell by the wayside once she started staying home because of Covid-19. This year she is doing online school and I would like to incorporate a habit of a short morning prayer with her before school again.

That’s a great time to pray together. Isn’t it wild how Covid messed up all our previous good habits? But now we get to come up with some new ones, so I guess it’s not so bad. 😉

I really like the idea of sitting and reading the Bible out-loud for 30 seconds. I have been realising that scripture sticks with me more when I speak it rather than just reading it silently. And this has the added bonus of the possibility of my faith-resistant 10 yo hearing nuggets of truth to feed her soul!

Isn’t it amazing how reading something out loud can make such a huge difference? And yes, I love that your 10-year old might listen in. Sometimes I think they’re resistant because they know we EXPECT them to listen. But if you absolutely don’t expect her to listen, she just might defy your expectations in a good way. ?

My husband does bedtime reading. He wants to start reading one proverb each night and ask the kids a question. I like your suggestion “what does this show us about God?”

Oh that would be fun. I haven’t really read Proverbs with my kids yet…it feels like it would take FOREVER because every verse is something new. But I bet you’ll have some really interesting conversations! Let me know how it goes…maybe I’ll give it a try. 😉

I would love to start the habit of saying ‘Jesus be the center of my day.’ It is a great way to start my day. And I love the simplicity and comfort of knowing that He will answer. : )

It really IS the perfect, simple habit! God is so faithful to honor requests like that, that it will grow beautiful fruit in time.

When you pass a Scripture posted in your home, read it out loud. I have many printed out on paper and hung up all around the house, even my preteen’s room. We started reading them but… I’d also like to speak a bible verse over my young adult daily who is not in the home.

Yes, you absolutely can speak Bible verses even over adult kids who are no longer at home. It just takes a little creativity 🙂

I like the idea of posting Bible verses in my boys’ bedroom and pray one each night. They can learn them and choose one each. Which verses might be good ones to start with?
I like the idea of posting verses around the house too…anything that will give me a visual reminder 🙂
