You might be feeling that you can’t possibly grow deep faith roots in your kids without investing a TON of time.
Let me explain why that’s not true…

Today’s assignment: Tell us what tiny little habit already makes a big difference in your life. It might be:
- cleaning the sink before bed,
- making your bed in the morning,
- or drinking a glass of water when you wake up.
Whatever it is, leave it in the comments so we can learn from you!
I make my bed EVERY morning. Have to! ?
Wonderful! That’s one habit I’ve gotten lazy with, but I know people who swear it impacts their whole day!
Way to go!! That’s one little habit that I used to have but got out of.
I typically wake up between 5 and 6 to exercise and get in God’s word before the kids wake up. (I am NOT a morning person.) This also helps because then my hubby wakes up after me and the last one out of bed makes the bed. 🙂
Run my dishwasher every night so the dishes are clean for breakfast.
That’s the one I’m working on right now! It sure makes a big difference.
I have a cup of tea first thing in the morning.
What a delightful way to start the day!
Spending time with God before everyone wakes up!
Leaving a note in my husband’s lunch bag – a prayer, blessing, anything that comes to mind, for him to find at work.
? What a thoughtful habit, Chidi!
We pray a scripture over our 3 kids every night before bed. May the Lord bless you and keep you one. And now with the song The Blessing our kids recognize the words and sometimes they sing it out.
That’s one of my favorite little habits! ?
I was having a hard time CONSISTENTLY reading my Bible every morning. I started with grabbing my morning coffee and reading a very small daily devotional. Once I had that habit I began to add on Bible reading after the devotional in longer and longer chunks. It’s worked so far!
That’s so amazing Holly! You’ve already got this process nailed. ?
Water, Live in Grace, Walk in Love Devo by Bob Goff (awesome) and then coffee, make bed. At night wash dishes but horrible about putting them away.
Well it sounds like you have some helpful habits started! I make my kids put the dishes away because it’s one of my least favorite things. ?
I hate to wake up to dishes in the morning. I have to make sure they are done before going to sleep!! Or I’m “behind
Doing them the night before can make a big difference! I’ve started doing that again recently and it does feel quite amazing.
I spend at least 30 minutes reading my scripture of the day, praying, and then sending a family text with the daily scripture.
I love it!
I make sure the kitchen is clean before I go to bed so I don’t have a mess staring me down first thing everyday and I have a load of laundry ready to throw in the washer to get my day started proficiently. I also like to grab a cup of tea and start going through my emails so I can have my prayer time before the evening activities with the kids start.
Those are some solid habits!
I try to pick up at least 5 items and put them away before I go to bed.
Ooooh, I love this.
Something as simple as washing my face every day to keep my complexion clear. Then moving on to praying for my kids every day, but if I make that too complicated I fail at that more often than not. I love tiny habits. Today was very helpful!
Yes! I find that the second I make something too complicated, I fail. I think that’s why flossing one tooth has worked for me. Most times I floss the whole mouth but knowing it’s ok to just floss one tooth keeps the habit alive!
I fill a Bootle of water with cucumber lemon and ginger before I go to bed to be flavoured for the morning.
When I wake up.before I get out of bed I make a habit of thanking God for life ???
Oooh, two little habits! Nice.
Hi. I always pray before I go to bed at night and when I rise in the morning. This is wonderful for me.
Love it Alfreda!
Saying a prayer before getting up in the morning
Awesome! That’s a great start for the day.
I use my phone calendar as a to-do list. There is a Psalm for each day of the week and the devotional that my church uses, as well as a time for me to pray for my pastor. Those three items are already occurring events on my calendar, so when I complete those each day, I delete that item for that day.
Nice! It feels great to check things off. ?
After supper I start tidying the table while I am still sitting and waiting for my kids to finish eating. When I stand up and inevitably feel the exhaustion of the day hit, I don’t have to think through the task of supper cleanup as I will be half way through the job already.
This is BRILLIANT!
As a SAHM, I start and/or make most of dinner right after lunch when my kids are happy, fed, and taking some downtown. That way the inevitable “witching hour” doesn’t coincide with me also needing to make dinner so I can be more present for needs when patience goes down and tired is high.
That’s a great habit! I bet it saves a lot of stress.
Prayer and Bible quiet time before anyone is awake
That definitely makes a huge difference!
I really need to develop a habit of drinking more water on a daily basic
Try filling up a big water bottle! It might work! The key is the part we’ll learn tomorrow 😉 I fill up (or find and fill up) my water bottle just after I turn on the microwave.
I drink 2 glasses of water before breakfast every morning
Nice!
I do bible study and pray each morning
Such a great habit that will help you grow with God!
Good morning making the bed is a must. Still working on drinking more water everyday.
Isn’t it amazing how a little thing like making your bed can make such a big difference in your day?
Just getting to complete yesterday’s homework. My habit is that I check my phone each morning after saying my prayer to see what the day has in store for me
Yup, that’s totally a little habit that makes a big difference!
I make a priority list every morning before I start my day.
I do the water bottle thing too! (I add a squirt if lemon juice :)) And I light a candle every morning to remind me of God’s presence with me in that moment and for all that will come my way throughout the day. Remembering His steadfast care of me and hope for me are helpful as I begin my day.
I LOVE the candle idea. Very cool.
I also fill a water bottle each morning.
Isn’t it a great habit? I used to be thirsty all the time! Not anymore.
I *try* to pray for my kids with each diaper change and potty break.
I like that! If it’s not totally working, maybe you can tweak the timing or expectations a bit to make it more natural.
Coffee with my devotional first thing in the morning.
That sounds LOVELY.
Study the Bible Every morning instead of reading it. I follow a devotional journal which prompts me to study everyday.
That’s fabulous!
I have learnt to clean up after myself daily so things don’t build up on me I use to put everything off and then I would get overwhelmed and frustrated, but organization and order has helped me greatly in maintaining my home for peaceful tranquility.
I love that you’ve learned that – it’s such a tough habit to master!
I’m new to the challenge and catching up – so glad that I was introduced! I see great habits noted! I have made it a habit to stretch in the bed when I wake, thank the Lord for waking me up and then have a sip of water. Stepping outside for a breath of fresh air is inconsistent but one I plan to get back to. #Mindfulness
Welcome! So glad you are able to catch up. 🙂
I want to pray before I get out of bed
That is absolutely possible! Make sure to watch the rest of the videos so you can make a sustainable habit!
I make my bed every morning
Great job!
Run the dishwasher and tidy the kitchen before taking the kids up for bed so that once they are in bed then I can have some down time (no more chores)! 🙂
YESSSSSS, that sounds awesome!
We do the same thing! It started with the verse over my son when he was tiny and we said it every night then the song came out and now we sing to him. He is 1.5 and sings the Amen part! I love this part of the day and so does he!
I love this! Thanks for sharing your experience 🙂
