Burying the Alleluia! . In this old Lent tradition, We put the Alleluia in a box, close it up and bury it. . Why? Because Alleluia is a joyful word, and Lent is a time of reflection, repentance, and fasting. We literally fast from saying Alleluia. . On Resurrection Sunday, we dig out the box (that snow pile better be melted by then!!) and shout Alleluia as we rejoice in our risen Lord! . More info and a simple Ash Wednesday devotion and activity are available at the link in my bio. .
